Description
Isotoma, scientifically known as Isotoma fluviatilis, is a charming plant species that belongs to the Campanulaceae family. This species was formally described and documented in the comprehensive botanical work “Flora Australiensis” in 1868 by renowned botanists, including the notable contribution of (R.Br.) F.Muell. ex Benth.
Endemic to the eastern and southeastern regions of Australia, Isotoma fluviatilis thrives in these locales, where it embellishes landscapes with its distinctive appearance. Typically found in moist environments, this vigorous ground cover plant is celebrated for its low-growing habit and delicate, star-shaped flowers that vary in color from shades of blue to white.
It has become a popular choice among gardeners and landscapers for use in borders, rockeries, and as an attractive ground cover due to its resilient nature and appealing aesthetics. The plant’s fine foliage is complemented by its prolific flowering, making it an exceptional choice for adding texture and color to various garden settings. Whether employed in an ornamental garden or for natural habitat restoration, Isotoma fluviatilis continues to be a valuable and visually striking component of the Australian flora.
