Description

Redflower ragleaf, scientifically known as Crassocephalum crepidioides, belongs to the diverse Asteraceae family. This plant is predominantly found in the tropical and subtropical regions of South and tropical Africa, as well as in Madagascar. It is known for its resilience and adaptability to varying climates within these regions.

The botanical intricacies of the Redflower ragleaf were documented in the renowned publication, J. Bot., specifically in volume 50, on page 211, in the year 1912. The description and classification were provided by the prominent botanist S. Moore, who built upon the earlier work of George Bentham, thereby refining our understanding of this species.

Crassocephalum crepidioides exhibits characteristic flowering patterns that contribute to its common name. The bright, reddish hues of its flowers make it a distinct and recognizable member of its ecosystem. This plant not only adds to the floral diversity but also plays a significant role in the local ecology where it thrives.
