Description
Golden coin daisy, scientifically known as Pallenis maritima, is a captivating plant that finds its home in the Canary Islands and various parts of Southern Europe. This unique member of the Asteraceae family was first described in the botanical work “Flora Mediterranea” in 1997 by Greuter.
Thriving in its native Mediterranean climate, the Golden coin daisy is easily recognizable by its bright yellow, coin-like flowers that can add a splash of vibrant color to any landscape. These perennials are particularly well-suited to rocky and coastal habitats, where they flourish with minimal maintenance. Their hardy nature makes them a resilient choice for gardeners seeking to introduce a touch of Mediterranean beauty to their own spaces.
Not just visually appealing, Pallenis maritima also plays a role in supporting local ecosystems. Its flowers attract a variety of pollinators, contributing to the biodiversity and ecological health of their environment.
Given their adaptability and striking appearance, the Golden coin daisy is a wonderful example of the botanical treasures hailing from the Mediterranean region. Whether used in ornamental gardening or studied for ecological research, Pallenis maritima continues to be a plant of both beauty and utility.
